Alumni Race
The alumni race pits current students vs. prior graduates that ran for the mounds view track and cross country programs. The course is a 2 mile race consisting of two 1 mile loops around Como Park. Team scores, like all cross country meets, are based on the top-5 finishers for each team and the team with the lowest total score wins. Afterward, the boys teams play softball for additional bragging rights. In 2017, the alumni dominated the race but the students won the softball game.

Whitewater
For athletes that have run more than 300 miles over the summer and regularly attended captains' practices, we will embark on the usual WW training trip the first week of practice (Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16). All other athletes will meet at Mounds View as usual for daily practice. No athlete is guaranteed to go to Whitewater as this trip is a privilege.

Mile Time Trials
The mile time trials are a chance for parents, siblings, and athletes to compete against their peers in a 1600m race on the track. Each level (siblings, middle school, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and parents) will compete in a separate 1600m race starting at 9:00 am. In 2019, we will be hosting the meet at the Mounds View track and Roseville is invited to compete.

St. Olaf Showcase
For the second  year, we plan on taking the top 7-10 runners to St. Olaf on Thursday, August 29, for a combined varsity/JV 5k meet on the state meet course. The remainder of the team will run at Rosemount the following day.

10:00 am - Girls 5000m
11:00 am - Boys 5000m. There will be 39 teams including Centennial, St. Michael-Albertville, and Maple Grove (also in section 5AA); Forest Lake and White Bear Lake (in our conference); Hopkins, Minneapolis Washburn and Wayzata ("section of death" teams).

Results will be posted on mtecresults.com

Friday, August 30, 2019
Schedule

8:45 am - Boys JV
9:35 AM - BOYS Frosh
10:00 AM - GIRLS C
10:25 AM - BOYS C
10:50 AM - GIRLS VARSITY (limit 10 entrants)
11:15 AM - BOYS VARSITY (limit 10 entrants)

Location: Rosemount High School

Parking: Parking is available in front of the high school (bottom of the course map) but there is additional parking next to the course at the Rosemount Community Center (3885 S Robert Trail, Rosemount, MN 55068) located just right of the dome on the course map.

MV Tent Location: The MVCC tent will be located alongside the finish line in between the finish straightaway and the track. There are port-a-potties adjacent to the track and additional restrooms can be found inside the Rosemount Community Center

Course Description: Every race is 2 miles long and consists of two nearly identical laps. There are chainlink fences approximately 400 meters into the race that create a funnel, so the typical strategy is to go out fairly hard for the first 400m (not sprinting, just faster than race pace) to bypass the slowdown at this funnel. There is some pavement on the initial part of the pond trail, but most of the portions with pavement have grass along one or both sides for runners wearing spikes. Short spikes are encouraged.

Results: results will be posted on Apple Raceberry Jam

Awards:

Top 30 varsity individual awards (Dri-Fit)
Top 20 JV individual awards (Dri-Fit)
Top 10 C/Frosh boys individual awards (Dri-Fit)

Course Description: The Anoka high school course is the fastest course of the year despite medium length grass (not a golf course) and mild downhill and uphill segments throughout. The 5 kilometer course is comprised of two 2.5 kilometer loops; hence, the start and finish of the race are in nearly identical locations. Approximately 150-200 meters before the finish there is an S-curve that limits view of the finish line. Racers will only be able to see the finish line 100 meters before the finish of the race.

Teams: Anoka, Anoka Middle, Coon Rapids Middle, Cretin Derham-Hall, Irondale, Jackson Middle, Minnetonka, Moundsview, Northdale Middle, Oak View Middle, Osseo, Park High School, Park Center, Parnassus, Robbinsdale Armstrong, Robbinsdale Cooper, Roosevelt Middle, Spring Lake Park, St. Louis Park, St. Paul Como Park, St. Paul Johnson, STMA, Totino Grace, White Bear Lake Area.

Course Description: The course at the Mustang Invite is typically slow due to heat (zero shade on the course), long grass (not on a golf course) and several tight turns. The 5 kilometer course (gold and green races) features 3 nearly identical loops, each slightly over 1600m long. On the third lap runners will continue along the dotted line towards the finish rather than turning right towards the 3200m mark.

Alexandria Lions Invite
Saturday, October 5, 2019
Schedule:

10:00 AM - coaches meeting
10:10 AM - 6th grade race (boys and girls)

10:50 AM - boys junior high (3200m)
11:15 AM - girls JV

Location: Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center, Alexandria, MN.

Parking: There is a moderate amount of parking in the Arrowwood Resort parking lots. However, they have additional parking off of Alexandria Drive in a nearby field.

Course Description: The Alexandria course is 5,000m for varsity and JV athletes and 3,200m for freshmen. Freshmen do a single lap on the course whereas varsity and JV runners do two laps. Each lap includes gentle rolling hills before heading towards the woods on the back of the course. There is a steep decline (upper right corner of course map) leading to a long straightaway towards the finish. The course is a net downhill because the start location is well above the finish location. The morning races also tend to be pretty cool but the varsity races tend to be quite nice.

Teams: Alexandria, Becker, Buffalo, Chanhassen, Cretin-Derham Hall, Marshall, Monticello, Mounds View, Park Center, Red Wing, Roseville, Sartell-St. Stephen, Sioux Falls Washington, St. Cloud Cathedral, St. Cloud Tech, St. Louis Park, Stillwater, White Bear Lake, Willmar, Windom

Awards:
Varsity - 1st place team receives a traveling plaque. Top 15 individuals receive a trophy.

Suburban East Conference Meet
Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Schedule:
3:00 PM Coaches meeting
3:30 PM Boys Varsity race
4:00 PM Girls Varsity race
4:30 PM Boys J.V. race
5:00 PM Girls J.V. race
5:30 PM (or so) Awards Ceremony

Mounds View is in Lane #9 at the start line

The Course: The SEC course has historically been very flat. For many years it was at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Stacy, MN, but in 2015 the course changed to the equally flat Tanners Brook Golf Course in Forest Lake. However, it tends to be soggy footing so that mitigates the speed of an otherwise fast course. The course has markers at each kilometer (1-5 km), the halfway point (2.5 km) and the 1600m and 3200m marks.

Parking: There will be limited private car parking in the golf course parking lot, especially until all buses are parked and unloaded. The should be some parking attendants in the parking lot starting at 2PM to direct parking. Private cars will need to park along local road 190th Street or side roads off Hwy 61.

Teams:  Cretin-Derham Hall, Mounds View, Forest Lake, Stillwater, White Bear Lake, East Ridge, Roseville, Woodbury, Park Cottage Grove

Results: posted on www.mtecresults.com

All-Conference medals - awarded to the top 18 finishers in each Varsity Race.
All-Conference Honorable Mention - awarded to places 19 – 27 in each Varsity race.
Trophy for the winning varsity team.
